Have you ever wanted to join a book club but just don’t seem to have the time to devote yourself to a new book every month? Got sucked into an 800-page trilogy that prevented you from looking at one more title? Have you ever wanted reading recommendations for new-to-you genres? Do you just want to talk about a new book that keeps you awake at night, despite it never hitting the best-sellers list? Then come join a low-stakes, fun book club aimed at enjoying the magic of reading at the Rowan Public Library.

A non-traditional model, Shelf Indulgences Book Club is a monthly, adults book club, hosted at various Rowan Public Library Locations. Each month’s meeting will center on a topic to get the discussion started, with book suggestions from your local librarians. Starting at 6pm, dates and locations scheduled are:

• Monday, Sept. 9, at Rowan Public Library: Headquarters (201 W Fisher Street, Salisbury). Topic — romance titles
• Monday, Oct. 14, at Rowan Public Library: South Branch (920 Kimball Road, China Grove). Topic — mystery/thriller titles
• Monday, Dec. 2, at Rowan Public Library: West Branch (201 School St., Cleveland). Topic — cozy read titles
