High school girls golf: Raiders 2nd, East 3rd in SPC match

CHINA GROVE — Lake Norman Charter won Thursday’s South Piedmont Conference girls golf match at Warrior.

Lake Norman Charter standout Caitlyn Frisch had an off day with a 43, but her teammates picked her up. Ava Palmer and Seehe Veera shot 39 for the Knights, who finished at 121 (top three scorers).

Northwest’s Carson Verburg shot 41 for third place.

South Rowan edged East Rowan by a stroke for second place.

The Raiders shot 137 and placed three in the top 10. Sara Culbert’s 44 led South. She was sixth. Ava Blume tied for seventh at 46. Margo Maples was ninth at 47.

East’s 138 included a 42 by Kaley Pfister, who was fourth on the individual leaderboard. Jaelyn Earnhardt tied for seventh at 46, and Izzy Stepp shot 50.

Northwest Cabarrus was fourth in the team scores.

West Rowan shot 170 for fifth.

Salisbury shot 178 in a Central Carolina Conference match on Monday.

The Rowan County Championships will be held at McCanless on Oct. 3.
