THOMASVILLE — Hines Busby scored a goal in Salisbury’s 1-0 win at Thomasville on Wednesday to open Central Carolina Conference play.

The Hornets (7-0-2) haven’t had many easy ones, but so far, so good.

Finnegan Avery shined for the Hornets. He had the assist and he made four saves.

“The man of the match,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said. “He’s been a beast all season long — consistently superb. Three of the four players on the back line are new starters and we played without one of those three.”

Mohammed Jabateh also played well for the Hornets.

Salisbury played a non-conference match on Thursday at West Rowan.

North Rowan (2-1-4, 1-0) crushed South Davidson 10-1 to open CCC play on Wednesday. It was the first game of the season for the Wildcats.

MOUNT ULLA — Alex Morales scored two goals as South Rowan won 3-0 at West Rowan in Wednesday’s South Piedmont Conference action.

Kamden Rowell scored for the Raiders. Michael Coles had two assists.

Alan Ballinas-Gutierrez made five saves for South (5-3-1, 3-2).

Nathan Freeman made seven saves for the Falcons (1-6-1, 0-4-1).

HUNTERSVILLE — Carson lost 3-2 at Lake Norman Charter in South Piedmont Conference play on Wednesday.

Julio Moctezuma Diche and Kevin Delgado scored for the Cougars (1-5-2, 0-5).

CONCORD — Carlos Javier-Ruiz had a hat trick for Concord in a 7-2 South Piedmont Conference win against East Rowan on Wednesday.
