High school volleyball roundup: South wins in 5 at West

MOUNT ULLA — South Rowan senior Meredith Faw recorded the 1,000th dig of her career in a big win at West Rowan on Wednesday.

South won a five-set battle, topping the Falcons 23-25, 25-23, 28-26, 20-25 and 15-5.

The Raiders (8-4, 6-3) finished a season sweep of West (5-7, 5-4) and are tied for third in the South Piedmont Conference standings with East Rowan.

Faw, Meghan Eagle and Laney Beaver had 11 kills each for South.

Campbell Withers had 27 digs. Faw had 22, while Avery Fisher contributed 20. Eagle had 12.

Raegan Shell had 25 assists. Eagle had 16.

South took on West Cabarrus in non-conference match on Thursday.

CONCORD — East Rowan breezed to a 25-12, 25-12 and 25-12 South Piedmont Conference win at Concord on Wednesday.

Cameron Ostle and Alli Corl had 11 kills each for the Mustangs. Leigan Lusk had six.

Ostle and Brooklyn Buck had four aces each.

Corl had four blocks. Ella Lowry and Lusk had three.

Jordan Dry had 12 digs. Jacee Eudy had 22 assists.

HUNTERSVILLE — Lake Norman Charter stayed undefeated on Wednesday, as the Knights won their match with Carson for first place.

Carson (12-5, 7-1) won the first set 25-17, but the Knights won 25-20, 25-18 and 25-10 to take the South Piedmont Conference matchup.

Reese Joyner had 15 kills for the Cougars. Katy Falkowski had eight, and Tasean Perkins had six.

Kaylee Thonen had 20 digs. Chloe Webster and Rylee Hedrick had 12 each. Maggie Cross had 10.

Hedrick had 34 assists.
