SALISBURY — Sheetz held the official grand opening for its second location in Salisbury, located at 1215 Peeler Road, on Friday.
The grand opening festivities began outside the store at 9 a.m. with multiple prizes awarded, including a giveaway of free Sheetz for a year.
The store’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at 10:45 a.m. The new location, which opened to the public at 8 a.m., also welcomed customers by offering free self-serve coffee and soda for the entire grand opening day.
In honor of the grand opening, Sheetz donated $2,500 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, a nonprofit which strives through education, advocacy and partnerships to eliminate hunger across 24 counties. Customers that attended the grand opening were encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item to the nonprofit. Those who donated received a Sheetz branded item.
A second donation of $2,500 was also presented to the Special Olympics of North Carolina. A supporter of the Special Olympics for over 30 years, Sheetz also extends its support to the organization through product donations and event volunteers.
Ranked ninth in this year’s “Companies that Care” list by Great Place to Work and PEOPLE Magazine, Sheetz said in a release that it is committed to supporting the local communities it serves.
“For the fourth time in five years, Sheetz was the only convenience store chain included on the list which highlights the top companies in the U.S. that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating outstanding respect and care for their employees and communities. Sheetz was also ranked third in the latest Best Workplaces in Retail list by Fortune, trailing only Wegmans Food Markets and Target for the second straight year,” the company said in the release.
