Press release

The Piedmont Friday Night Lights Awards program is coming to Salisbury on Sunday, Dec. 15.

This special awards event will recognize the top football and cheer athletes in a six-county area (Cabarrus, Davie, Davidson, Iredell, Rowan and Stanly.)

This special student-athlete recognition event will join the very popular 6th annual Piedmont Hot Stove League Baseball and Softball Awards, held every January at Wesat End Plaza to honor those sports and their athletes.

We have been working with your school and its baseball and softball coaches for many years to honor their players.

“I am so excited to bring our Football and Cheer Awards to the Piedmont area in December,” said Tripp Roakes, the operator of the award events.  “It has been such a pleasure to honor the baseball and softball players of the Piedmont, now to add an event dedicated to the outstanding football players and cheerleaders will be a big plus for the Piedmont.”

The time is now for coaches to nominate your student-athletes for the awards listed below.  It takes just a few moments to place a nomination for someone that works hard year round.  To do so, please visit www.FridayNightAwards.com.   We don’t want to leave any deserving athlete out, so please think about different kids and how they fit into each award.  We welcome nominations from any coach, parent or fan of the program.

We are looking for top players, top rising stars, best leaders and your leading Scholar-Athletes.
