Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures hosting Worldwide Day of Play

SPENCER — The N.C. Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures has invited families to the Worldwide Day of Play on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event, held in partnership with Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums, encourages families to get active and engage in playful and educational activities.

Event details:

  • Date: Saturday, Sept. 28
  • Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Location: N.C. Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures, 108 4th St., Spencer
  • Admission: Included with museum admission. Free admission for those dressed as superheroes

Activities:

  • 10-11 a.m.: Meet the McDonald’s Hamburglar
  • 11-noon: Hula Hooper Pricilla Hoopmore demo and instruction
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Coloring station sponsored by McDonald’s
  • 1-2 p.m.: Museum tours
  • 1-1:30 p.m.: Train Talk with Ed, the model train expert

All-day activities include:

  • Outdoor fun with hopscotch, chalk drawing, cornhole, jump rope and more
  • Eye Spy Day of Play edition
  • Sensory Box exploration
  • Board game challenges: play, complete the questionnaire, and design a board game box top
  • Hotwheel races
  • Connect 4
  • “Toys Then and Now” display
  • Puppet theater play
  • Write a dollhouse mystery
  • Miniature-making stations
  • Skittles match

Whether meeting the Hamburglar or trying out hula hoop skills, the event is perfect for kids and families looking to bond, learn and enjoy a playful day together.

No registration is needed. Anyone interested can simply come by, dress up as their favorite superhero and dive in.
