SALISBURY — Earlier this month, more than 400 people attended the Rotary Club of Salisbury’s annual scholarship raffle event at the F&M Trolley Barn in Salisbury. According to event organizers, that number represented a record attendance, eclipsing last year’s attendance of roughly 220 attendees.
Attendees purchased $100 tickets to mingle and enjoy the catered dinner and drinks. The reverse raffle continued throughout the night, with numerous prizes and a grand prize of $10,000. It is expected that this year’s charity event will net over $20,000 in funds raised for the Salisbury Rotary Scholarship Fund.
The annual fundraising event is one of the flagship charity programs sponsored by the Rotary Club of Salisbury. To date, the rotary club’s charity raffle has generated more than $500,000 in scholarship funding granted to high school graduates from Rowan County. Every year, the Rotary Club of Salisbury provides two scholarships for graduating seniors from each of Rowan County’s seven high schools to attend Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Additionally, scholarships are awarded to local high school graduates who are accepted to both Catawba College and Livingstone College.
“I’d like to give special thanks to event organizers Don Don Clement and Mike Miller from Rotary Club, who, without their tireless work, this great charity event would not have taken place,” Club President Karen Hobson said.
Plans are already being made to hold the event again in September 2025.
