The National Weather Service issued a lake wind advisory at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday valid from 8 p.m. until Friday 2 p.m. The advisory is for Alexander, Iredell, Davie, Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

The NWS describes, “East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.”

“Strong winds and rough waves on area lakes will create hazardous conditions for small craft,” explains the NWS. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”
