Teen killed in Salisbury shooting: SPD launches homicide investigation

SALISBURY — A teenager was killed in a shooting in Salisbury on Friday. The slaying is under investigation by the Salisbury Police Department.
According to a press release from Major Justin Crews, the public information officer for the department, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of North Fulton Street in reference to a shooting.
The arriving officers reportedly located a 14-year-old male that had sustained gunshot wounds.
“First responders quickly arrived and transported the male to Novant (Health Rowan Medical Center) with life-threatening injuries,” Crews said in the release. “The male unfortunately succumbed to his injuries once he arrived at the hospital.”
Investigators have reportedly determined that the victim was walking in the 500 block of North Ellis Street when he was shot. Whether there was one shooter or a group was not specified.
The victim was able to walk to the 300 block of North Fulton Street before collapsing.
As of this report, no one has been arrested in connection to this incident.
The Salisbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating the incident.
“Due to the nature of this investigation, no further information will be released at this time,” Crews said in the release, adding that “the Salisbury Police Department would like to extend our prayers to the victim’s family.”
