Salem’s Leah Rymer (South Rowan) is the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week.

Rymer averaged 10 assists and 3.75 digs per set as the Spirits posted a 2-1 record last week with wins over USA South foe William Peace and Carolina University and a loss to league rival Southern Virginia.

Rymer posted double-doubles in each of the matches to go along with highs of 47 assists, 20 digs, three kills (three times), and three service aces.

Catawba’s Riley Hill (East Rowan) is the South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Hill, a sophomore, collected a season-high 34 digs in the Catawba Indians’ comeback victory over Coker on Friday night, finishing the week with 50 digs for a 6.25 per-set average.

The sophomore led Catawba in the service category as well with five aces, producing a team high in both matches.

Troy’s Tori Hester (West Rowan) leads the Sun Belt Conference in kills by a lot.

Hester has 236 and averages 4.82 per set.
