Fall festivals celebrate the change of the season. From celebrating the change in the leaves, to the cooler weather and embracing everything that the Autumn season brings. Do you remember attending fall festivals in your community to kick off the spooky season? Do you have fond memories of the games, activities, and most of all, the cake walk? The feeling of your number being called and getting to pick the most delicious looking treat to bring home?

Whether you have memories of your community fall festival or you have never attended one, Rowan Public Library invites you to visit Rowan Public Library South in China Grove on Saturday, Oct. 19, for a fun, old-fashioned fall festival! Branch Operations Manager Brooke Taylor says, “The annual Family Fall Fest was created to bring the community into the library for fun and games, and then show them all the resources that are available to them.”

The Family Fall Fest activities will include a fall storytime, crafts, a cake walk, games and activities such as face-painting, plinko, bowling in the stacks, and more. Participants of all ages are encouraged to participate in the festival activities. Cake walk tickets are $3 for 1 ticket or $5 for 2 tickets. The cakewalk will have two rounds and so far, there are 16 chances of winning a cake or cupcakes.

RPL South staff have been looking forward to the Second Annual Family Fall Fest since last October. “We all enjoy seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of those who are having fun,” RPL South Reference Librarian Paul Birkhead shared. “It’s not just from the children, either. Plenty of adults enjoy trying their hand at the fall-themed games and activities. We love sharing this event with the community and we feel it really kicks off the holiday season,” said Birkhead.

Library services will be available during Family Fall Fest, so readers are encouraged to check out new titles and find their next fall read.

The festival will run from 1-4 p.m. with cake walks at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Storytime at 2:30 p.m. For more information, call 704-216-7727.
