SALISBURY — The city council will consider authorizing City Manager Jim Greene Jr. to enter into agreements with the N.C. Department of Transportation for approximately $8.5 million in funds for a multi-modal center at the Salisbury Depot.
The funding comes from the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality program and will include a local match of $320,000 as well as state funding of approximately $2.8 million.
It will be put to the Multi-Modal Depot project, which would provide a downtown center for multiple modes of transportation and has been included in potential transportation project conversations for at least four years.
The upcoming Salisbury City Council meeting will be at 6 p.m at City Hall, located at 217 S. Main St. The other agenda items that will be discussed include:
- The council will receive an update regarding the employee Health and Wellness Olympics challenge.
- The council will consider a resolution authorizing the acceptance of $400,000 in funding from the state’s Local Assistance for Stormwater Infrastructure Investments grant. The council will also consider a budget ordinance adjusting the city’s budget to reflect the additional $400,000 in appropriations.
- The council will consider a right-of-way encroachment for MCNC to install fiber within the rights-of-way of Old Concord Road, Jake Alexander Boulevard South, East Innes Street, North Main Street, North Long Street, Horah Street and Rowan Tech Road. The encroachment would require approval from the NCDOT and any applicable railroad entities.
