SALISBURY — The date for Waterworks Visual Arts Center’s annual Oyster Roast is set for Jan. 25, 2025. This will be the non-profit’s 19th year of holding this event, which raises funds for Waterworks’ educational and outreach programs. The Oyster Roast will be held in the F&M Trolley Barn from 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Waterworks is excited to welcome back the Washington Crab Company, who will be on site to steam fresh oysters and shrimp and serve all their signature sides. One of Salisbury’s hometown favorites, College Barbecue, will be serving up pit-cooked barbecue sliders. For dessert, there will be a selection of sweet provisions from Cold Stone Creamery. Wine, beer and other select beverages are provided by United Beverage of North Carolina and Cheerwine.

Last year’s Bourbon Tasting & Raffle was such a hit it will be back again, bigger and better.

A limited number of tickets are available at the cost of $100 for non-members and $85 for members of Waterworks Visual Arts Center. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will go on sale Nov. 1. Guests may purchase tickets online through Waterworks’ website, in person at the museum or through a Waterworks board member.

Sponsorships for the event are also available. For detailed sponsorship information, contact Executive Director Anne Scott Clement at 704-636-1882 or by visiting the Waterworks office located at 123 E. Liberty Street in downtown Salisbury.

A special feature for those attending the 2025 Oyster Roast will be the opportunity to view the current exhibition of paintings and sculptures from the personal collection of the late New York philanthropists Julian and Josie Robertson. Julian Robertson was born in Salisbury and remained dedicated to the Salisbury community throughout his lifetime. Remembering Bostian Alley and 1937 Bostian Alley join the masterpieces and highlight a previously overlooked time in Salisbury history.
