North Carolina Central University women’s basketball student-athletes Morgan Callahan and Kyla Bryant were named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference  preseason all-conference teams, the league announced.

The Eagles were picked to finish fourth in the MEAC, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors. N.C. Central picked up 78 points in the preseason poll, just one point behind third-place Coppin State.

It will be challenging start to the season for the Eagles. They play at Georgia on Nov. 4 and at Clemson on Nov. 7. They will play six games against Power 5 schools.

Bryant, who starred at Salisbury High, earned preseason third team honors after ranking second on the team in scoring last year, averaging 11.2 points per contest. Ranking seventh in the MEAC in scoring, she was also eighth in the league with 2.2 assists per game. A two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week, Bryant had four 20-point performances on the year – including a career-high 26 at Jacksonville on Dec. 11.

Callahan was named preseason second team, coming off a 2023-24 season in which she led the Eagles in scoring (13.4 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg), ranking third in the MEAC in both categories.
