High school football: Carson, West, Salisbury, Wonders win JV games

CHINA GROVE — Carson’s defense forced five turnovers in a 27-0 jayvee football win against East Rowan on Thursday.

Eli Covington had fumble recovery and an interception for the Cougars (4-3).

Konnor Karriker had an interception. Sedrick Wallace and Dom Locascio had fumble recoveries.

Colin Masingo threw a TD pass to Karriker and rushed for two TDs. Landon Stirewalt scored a rushing TD.

East is 4-4.

“We’ve got some lightning bolts on the jayvees,” Carson coach Jonathan Lowe said. “East has some players, big quarterback, very good running back, but that’s the best jayvee game we’ve played all season. The future is bright.”

MOUNT ULLA — Jalen Moten threw three touchdown passes to spark West Rowan’s 42-20 win against Central Cabarrus in JV football on Thursday.

John Walters, Aiden Sechler and Jayden “Batman” Donaldson had TD catches for the Falcons (4-4).

Carlos Phillips and Landon Ryerson had rushing TDs.

One more West TD will be accounted for on Friday.

CONCORD — Robinson overpowered South Rowan 48-0 in Thursday jayvee action.

Jack Garmon’s kickoff returns were a bright spot for the Raiders (1-6).

SPENCER — West Davidson had a late fumble recovery and was able to hold off North Rowan 20-14 in JV football action on Thursday.

Long passes from Tristen Brown to Shawn Boyd produced both TD for North (1-4).

LEXINGTON — Isaiah Davidson rushed for three touchdowns to lead Salisbury to a 22-0 JV win against Lexington on Thursday.

Kyrin Brown and Jordan Washington had 2-point conversion runs for the Hornets (6-2).

Isaiah Foxx forced a fumble, while Grant Hill and Darrius Graham-Taylor had fumble recoveries.

KANNAPOLIS — Lemar Grier scored two rushing touchdowns as A.L. Brown smashed South Iredell 27-0 in Thursday JV action.

QB AJ Settles ran for a score, and the Wonders (8-0) scored on defense when Jaylon Hamilton had a sack, stripped the ball, scooped it and scored.
