HOLLY SPRINGS — Salisbury’s doubles team of Lucy Barr/Meredith Williams won twice on Friday in the 2A State Championships and advanced to Saturday’s semifinals at Ting Park.

Midwest Regional champs Barr and Williams won 6-4, 6-4 against Newton-Conover’s Sara Sain/Jenna Sain in the first round. The Sains finished fourth in the West Regional.

In a quarterfinal match, Barr and Williams won 6-4, 6-2 against Seaforth’s Bailey Shadoan/Cl;aire Coady, the third-place finishers in the Mideast Regional.

Salisbury’s doubles team of Addie Griffith/Lola Koontz lost a first-round match to Burns’ Mackenzie Pendleton/Marissa Pendleton 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Griffith and Koontz were the runner-up team in the Midwest Regional. The Pendletons finished third in the West Regional.
