Rowan County has once again been recognized both locally and nationally for their employee wellness initiatives.

“We continue to receive recognition for innovation in employee health and wellness while remaining fiscally conservative,” Board of Commissioners Chairman Greg Edds said. “We are fortunate to have some of the brightest human resource professionals in the country under the leadership of Assistant County Manager Kelly Natoli.”

The county was named in the top 5 Healthiest Employers of Greater Charlotte by the Charlotte Business Journal in the 500-999 employees category. This program was started by the Charlotte Business Journal in 2009 to celebrate companies that are putting their people first by investing in the health of their employees.

This is the fifth time the county has been recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal for making strides in wellness for workers. This year, the county ranked fourth, preceded by Cleveland County Government, City of Gastonia and Truliant Federal Credit Union.

Rowan County has also been recognized in the 2024 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America by Springbuk, an awards program created to honor people-first organizations that prioritize the well-being of their employee population. This is the second time Rowan County has been recognized by Springbuk because of our commitment to workplace wellness. Springbuk is a health intelligence software platform that administers the awards program across the country to honor the nation’s most dedicated employers in bettering their worksite health and wellness programs.

This year, the county was ranked 99th. Award winners included nationally recognized companies such as bp North America, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, CVS Health, American Express and NASCAR.

We are very proud of the Rowan County Wellness Committee and the Human Resources Department for their commitment to help employees build healthy physical habits, as well as the support they provide to employees for open communication about mental health,” Assistant County Manager and Human Resources Director Kelly Natoli said. “Rowan has a proactive employee supportive board of commissioners who have supported numerous initiatives over the last decade including a diabetes management program, a medical weight loss program, biometric screening incentives, discounted premiums for participation in the wellness program, Fitbits, a fitness app with monthly incentives, mobile mammograms, flu shot clinics, a free on-site Nurse Practitioner and an Employee Assistance Program with enhanced services to support mental wellness.”
