No injuries in three-alarm fire

SALISBURY — A three-alarm fire in a brick and wood-frame two-story house on South Clay Street broke out just after 11 a.m. Monday, according to officials.

The fire in the 100 block of South Clay Street was across from the post office and initial calls for a working fire, creating a second alarm, came in about 11:18 a.m., and the third alarm was struck about 11:45 a.m. Fire crews from Salisbury, Spencer, Ellis, Franklin, Granite Quarry, Locke, East Spencer and Miller’s Ferry responded to the call.

Part of the chimney had to be knocked down but most of the exterior remains standing, however, the inside is a total loss, according to officials.

Fire officials said the cause is still under investigation but no one was in the house at the time and no firefighters were injured.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
