SALISBURY — The deadline to apply for two Elks’ college scholarship awards is Nov. 8.

Applicants must be a current high school senior and U.S. citizen. The awards are for undergraduate study only.

The 2025 Elks National Foundation (ENF) Most Valuable Student Scholarship is a national award based on scholarship, leadership and financial need.

The Salisbury Elks #699 awards the local Don Stout Memorial Scholarships to Rowan County Students. It’s named for Don Stout, who was a lifelong educator in the Rowan-Salisbury School System and a valued member of the local lodge.

Only one application needs to be submitted for consideration since the same criteria is used to evaluate each student. Additional scholarship guidelines and the online application are available at: Most Valuable Student (elks.org). Information has also been sent to the RSS guidance counselors and area high schools.

The NC State Elks Association also offers $1,000 one-year nursing scholarships for North Carolina high school seniors. Applicants must be participating in school curriculum that involves health care activities. The online application, essay requirements and other criteria are available at: https://ncelks.org/programs/nursing-scholarship/. This application must be received on or before December 9, 2024.
