High school JV football: Cougars, Falcons, Wonders win

LANDIS — Carson won 20-12 against South Rowan in jayvee football action on Thursday.

Colin Masingo had two rushing scores for the Cougars.

Konnor Karriker had a big night, including a 50-yard TD pass to Kaiden Cruz.

Garreck Barnes intercepted a pass for Carson (6-3).

Carson’s losses were to Mount Pleasant, West Rowan and Northwest Cabarrus.

South Rowan was led by Nic Woolf who had two rushing TDs and about 100 rushing yards.

Dane Wheeler recovered a fumble for the Raiders (1-8).

It was a young South jayvee team with 30-plus freshmen.

“We had some great sophomore leaders and stayed strong from start to finish, proud of the effort all season,” South coach Chris Walsh said.

GRANITE QUARRY — West Rowan won 31-12 against East Rowan in Thursday’s JV game.

The Falcons (6-4) won six of their last seven games after an 0-3 start against 4As. The only South Piedmont Conference loss was to Robinson.

Aiden Sechler picked off a pass for West.

Jalen Moten, Devauhn White and Landon Ryerson led the offense.

Jaxon Lyons had two TD runs to account for the points for the Mustangs (5-5).

East had wins against North Rowan, Salisbury, Central Cabarrus, Concord and South Rowan.

KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown rolled 34-6 against Concord on Thursday to cap a 10-0 JV season.

Luke Wallace ran for a touchdown and threw TD passes to Savion Anderson and Jeremiah Christopher.

Lemar Grier had two rushing TDs.

A.L. Brown’s JVs have won 25 in a row against Concord.

Concord finished 2-8.
