Chase ends in arrest behind N.C. State Highway Patrol office

A Rowan County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on I-85 about 12:55 a.m. Nov. 2. According to reports, the driver exited the highway at exit 70 Webb Road. At the top of the ramp, he initially stopped, but when the deputy started to get out to approach, the driver sped off. The driver turned right onto Webb Road, reaching speeds of 110 mph after turning his lights off. The deputy reported the driver hit one vehicle on the railroad tracks, then another car at the Webb Road/South Main Street intersection before stopping outside the highway patrol office.

The driver and his passenger both jumped out and ran behind the building, where they were detained by a state trooper until the Rowan deputy arrived and arrested them both. The driver, Jose Ivan Collado, 20, was charged with felony flee to elude and reckless driving to endanger, and on an outstanding warrant from Wake County, with driving with a revoked license, felony larceny by an employee, resist/obstruct/delay of a public officer, tampering with a motor vehicle, possession of up to 1/2 ounce of marijuana, and two counts of failure to appear. He was held without bond. His passenger, Christian Ivan Chulizant-Collado, 19, was arrested and charged with resist/obstruct/delay of a public officer.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports

• A larceny from a property on South Vance Street, Landis reportedly occurred between 12:30 a.m. Oct. 29 and 2:18 p.m. Nov. 1.

• A larceny from a property on North Enochville Avenue, China Grove reportedly occurred between 10 p.m. Oct. 22 and 4:02 p.m. Nov. 1.

• A larceny from a property on Park Road, Woodleaf reportedly occurred between 8:19-8:25 p.m. Oct. 24 and was reported Nov. 1,

• Matthew Kyle Harris, 31, was arrested Nov. 2 and charged with reckless driving, expired boat registration, hit and run causing property damage, failure to report an accident, expired inspection and failure to secure a passenger under 16 years of age.

• Scottie Lee Lewis Jr., 33, was arrested Nov. 2 and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

• Bre Anne Lowe, 47, was arrested Nov. 2 and charged with communicating threats.

Salisbury Police reports

• An assault on Mocksville Avenue was reported at 3 a.m. Nov. 1.

• A pedestrian suffered minor injuries in a hit and run on Statesville Boulevard at 8:02 a.m. Nov. 1.

• A larceny from a motor vehicle reportedly occurred between 11 p.m. Oct. 31 and 3 a.m. Nov. 1. Total estimated loss was $60.

• A larceny from a property on West D Avenue reportedly occurred between 4 p.m. Oct. 25 and 5 p.m. Oct. 30, and was reported Nov. 1. Total estimated loss was $47,000.

• A larceny from a motor vehicle on Henderlite Street reportedly occurred between 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 and 5:30 a.m. Nov. 1. Total estimated loss was $105.

• The Salisbury Housing Authority on East Horah Street was vandalized when a window was smashed with a rock about 1:35 a.m. Nov. 3.

• The theft of a motor vehicle from South Main Street reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 1 and 6:55 a.m. Nov. 2.

• Tampering with a motor vehicle (knocking out a car window) on Lash Drive reportedly occurred between 5 p.m. Nov. 2 and 10 a.m. Nov. 3.

• A larceny from a motor vehicle on South Avalon Drive reportedly occurred about 7:45 p.m. Nov. 3. Total estimated loss was $300.

• Joshua Samuel Billingslea, 29, was arrested Nov. 2 and charged with misdemeanor second-degree trespassing.

• Enrique Perez Corado Jr., 21, was arrested Nov. 2 and charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering a building.

• Joshua Daniel Cornelius, 27, was arrested Nov. 3 and charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance.

• John Fitzgerald Stinson, 59, was arrested Nov. 4 and charged with misdemeanor assault on a female.
