CHINA GROVE — An early morning house fire in the 1300 block of Chalk Maple Road left three residents and two dogs displaced.

The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4. Firefighters from Mt. Mitchell fire department who were first on scene immediately updated the call to a working fire. The single-story house with a basement has been deemed a total loss. The fire reportedly extended from an area in the basement up and through the roof.

No injuries were reported in the fire and the Red Cross is assisting the family. In addition to Mt. Mitchell, responding department included Bostian Heights, China Grove, Landis, Rockwell Rural, Kannapolis, Rimer and Coldwater.
