College women’s basketball: Catawba bounces back, routs Bobcats

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Janiya Foskey came off the bench to score 20 points, as Catawba’s women’s basketball romped 92-65 against Lees-McRae.
The Indians (1-1) were able to bounce back less than 24 hours after Saturday’s turnover-filled, 90-70 opening loss to Columbus State.
Lees-McRae (1-1) led after a quarter, but Catawba took control in the second quarter, led by eight at the half and steadily pulled away.
Kairah Dixon-Booker got a start and responded with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Imani Williams, Saniya Wilson and Natalie Lara Fuertes all scored 11.
Catawba shot 48 percent and had a 26-18 edge in the turnover battle.
Lees-McRae shot 3-for-25 on 3-pointers — 12 percent.
Catawba freshman Bailee Goodlett had six points and three assists in 24 minutes of action.
