SALISBURY — Kris Robinson made six 3-pointers and scored 22 points to lead Catawba College’s men’s basketball team to a 73-69 win against Young Harris on Wednesday.

Robinson made a late free throw for a four-point lead to seal the win.

Catawba led by five at the half and was able to stay in front in the second half, even though Young Harris closed the gap to as a little as a single point.

Karl Chavis scored 21 for the purple-clad visitors from Georgia.

Young Harris (1-2) shot better than 50 percent from the 3-point line (10-for-19), but the Indians were able to withstand that long-range barrage. Catawba (2-1) won mostly because of 17 offensive rebounds and an 18-12 advantage in the turnover battle.

O’Mazen Tinsley had 12 points for the Indians. Ten Indians scored.

Catawba won’t play for a week, but when it returns to the floor it will be for South Atlantic Conference action at Anderson on Nov. 20.
