KANNAPOLIS — Hough’s boys scored 287.5 points and ruled the KTown Throwdown wrestling tournament at A.L.Brown.

Newton-Conover placed second with 145.5 points.

A.L.Brown (105) edged South Rowan (104.5) for third. Carson (103-5) was sixth, while East Rowan (41.5) was 16th.

A.L. Brown’s Drake Watts won a decision in the 215 final. A.L. Brown’s Landon Logan was second at 120.

South Rowan’s Mateo Diaz won the 120 final over Logan in a sudden-victory round. South’s Garrison Raper won at 126. He won my medical forfeit in the final. South’s Emilio Diaz was third at 106.

Carson’s Griffin Barber won at 165, taking a major decision in the final. Joseph Little dominated the 113-pound weight class. He won by tech fall in the final. Carson’s Andrew Reaves was third at 190.

East Rowan’s Andrew Thompson was third at 157.

A.L. Brown won the girls division handily with 139.5 points, with East Rowan placing second with 46.5. Salisbury was seventh. South Rowan was 11th, and Carson was 14th.

The Wonders had a host of weight-class champs including Amory Mendoza (100), Kahlen Kuddie (132), Meleny Ballesteros (138), Alexa Rubino (145) and Clear Wesley (185).

East Rowan champs were Leah Edwards (114) and Jasmyne Brown (120).

Salisbury’s Dashia Canada won at 126.

Carson was paced by a runner-up finish at 152 by Hai’li Eldreth. South Rowan’s Carleigh Cline was runner-up at 138.
