JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Catawba’s women’s basketball played well on Saturday, but Carson-Newman was better, and stayed undefeated.

The Eagles (5-0, 3-0) outscored the Indians 92-80 at Holt Fieldhouse in front of 356 mostly happy fans.

Catawba (3-2, 1-1) shot 46.7 percent and will normally win when it shoots that accurately, but the Eagles, who are a top 10 team nationally in DII, shot 50 percent.

Carson-Newman had a 17-13 edge in the turnover battle — Catawba really needed to win that — and had a big edge in offensive boards (17-7).

Catawba had a balanced scoring attack and put six in double figures. Sydney Gueterman scored 14. Nala Baker and Janiya Foskey scored 13. Brooklin Ingram scored 12. Saniya Wilaon had 10.

Bailee Goodlett, a freshman from North Rowan, had 11 points, three assists and four rebounds.

Foskey had nine rebounds.

Jennifer Sullivan scored 19 for the Eagles, while Campbell Penland had 17.
