High school basketball: South Rowan splits with South Stanly

LANDIS — South Rowan’s girls had no trouble against an overwhelmed South Stanly squad on Monday.
The Raiders cruised 63-16 for a non-conference win.
South (2-1) got points from 10 players, with Kynlee Dextraze scoring 14.
South Stanly (0-2) scored first, but South Rowan got the next 14. Hannah Atwell made two 3-pointers to get the Raiders started.
Avery Fisher had back-to-back buckets for a 15-point lead. South Rowan went ahead by 20 in the second quarter on two McKenzie Menius free throws.
South Rowan led 28-12 at the half and began the third quarter with an 11-0 spree to put the game away. Danica Krieg’s 3-pointer made it 39-12.
South Stanly was led by Kanija’s Colson six points.
The Bulls were cooperative guests, shooting 18 percent and making 38 turnovers.

South Rowan’s boys lost 64-42 to South Stanly on Monday.
Gavyn Walker scored 20 points and led four Bulls (2-0) in double figures.
Jadonj Moore scored a career-best 18 for the Raiders, including 10 in the third quarter. He made two 3-pointers.
Jelani King scored 13 for South Rowan (0-3), while Tristian Littlejohn contributed seven.
After South Rowan got off to good start, South Stanly pulled away with a 24-8 edge in the second quarter. The Bulls led 30-17 at halftime.
