SALISBURY — Catawba’s men’s basketball team shot 57 percent — and lost — on Wednesday.

Lenoir-Rhyne Bears beat Catawba 112-108 in overtime. The Bears shot 64.4 percent from the field, better than they shot from the foul line in the South Atlantic Conference game.

Ziare Wells scored 32 for the Bears (7-2, 5-1). Julian Dozier scored 21, and Conrad Luczynski scored 20 on 7-for-7 shooting.

Catawba (4-4, 2-3) got 21 each from Montraivis White and Ibra Athie. Nick Walker scored 19.

The Indians didn’t have their normal big edge in the turnover battle, as the Indians turned it over 18 times.

Catawba led 51-44 at the half at Goodman Arena in front of 390 fans.

Walker had a chance to win the game at the foul line at the end of regulation. He made one of two free throws to send the game to overtime.

Catawba led 106-102 in the overtime session, but a foul call, coupled with a technical foul, gave Dozier a chance to make three free throws that changed momentum. Then Wells made a layup to put the Bears ahead to stay at 107-106.
