College women’s basketball: Catawba holds off Lenoir-Rhyne

SALIOSBURY — Catawba’s women’s basketball team won 61-56 against South Atlantic Conference rival Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday.
The Indians put four in double figures and won in Goodman Arena.
Janiya Foskey had 14 points and eight rebounds. Brooklin Ingram made three 3-pointers and scored 13. Nala Baker scored 12, and freshman Bailee Goodlett (North Rowan) had 10.
Lenoir-Rhyne (3-5, 3-2) got 12 points each from Alexandra Merceron and Emily Harman.
Catawba only got to the foul line six times in the game, but shot 41.4 percent from the field and had a big edge on the glass.
With Catawba leading 57-54 with 16 seconds left, Goodlett made a key play with an assist to Kaira Dixon-Booker for a layup.With Catawba (5-3, 3-2) leading 59-56, Goodlett sealed the victory with two late free throws.
