A Cooleemee auctioneer was honored for a half century of active licensure during the most recent North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board.

During the NCALB’s Nov. 12 board of directors meeting, Fred O. Ellis was among the 19 named auctioneers honored for meeting the 50-year mark. Additionally, one auction firm was also recognized for maintaining its license since 1974. 

“Auctioneers serve as fiduciaries, and they are entrusted with people’s property and the proceeds from the sale of that property,” NCALB Chairman Daniel H. DeVane said. “The licensing system provides an important layer of protection for consumers.

“This board is proud to celebrate this fine group of honorees, and we sincerely thank each one for their long-standing service in the auction industry.”
