A South Iredell fire engine and three firefighters were coming down N.C. Hwy. 152 in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Dec. 3, when the truck hit a patch of black ice, causing the truck to end up on its side.
All three firefighters received minor injuries according to officials and refused treatment from EMS. The roadway was closed for several hours in order to get the tire engine off its side and removed from the scene, but no other injuries or incidents were reported in connection.
Several car crashes were reported throughout Rowan County Tuesday as residents awoke to snow on the grassy areas and black ice on roadways.
Temperatures are expected to continue with overnight lows into Wednesday dropping as low as 18 degrees.
