LANDIS — South Rowan’s boys didn’t look like a basketball team in the midst of a school-record losing streak in the early going on Wednesday.

Carter Rohletter made four 3-pointers and scored 14 points in the first quarter, as the Raiders took an 18-12 lead against West Rowan.

The Raiders were still even with the Falcons three minutes before halftime, but West grabbed a five-point halftime lead and eventually pulled away for a 67-52 victory.

Brant Graham had a shooting spree early in the third quarter as the Falcons (1-2, 1-0) went up by double digits in the South Piedmont Conference opener for both teams.

South (0-4, 0-1) lost its 49th straight game.

West has won 25 straight against the Raiders since South edged the Falcons in the 2012 Christmas Tournament.

Rohletter finished with a career-best 20 points to lead South. Jadon Moore had a big fourth quarter and scored 18 for the second straight game.

West got a career-best 17 from Ja’mih Tucker, 15 from Graham, and 12 from Jalen Moten.

South played without Tristian Littlejohn. West played without big man Josiah Young, who totaled 28 points in the Falcons’ first two outings.
