Livingstone to celebrate milestone winter commencement with inspiring speaker

SALISBURY — Livingstone College is excited to announce its 10th Winter Commencement Ceremony, featuring the Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley as the keynote speaker. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Dec. 13, and will mark a significant moment in the lives of graduates and the broader community.

As the president and CEO of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Arline-Bradley is a voice for social justice and advocacy. She is also the founding principal and CEO of R.E.A.C.H. Beyond Solutions, a firm specializing in public health, organizational strategy, and government affairs, including serving as senior advisor and director of external engagement in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General under the Obama administration, where she collaborated closely with Dr. Vivek H. Murthy.
Arline-Bradley has more than 21 years of extensive experience in healthcare, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). She is uniquely equipped to inspire the next generation of leaders. Her passion for public service and commitment to equity have established her as a formidable advocate for change. Additionally, she is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rev. Arline-Bradley to Livingstone College as our Winter Commencement speaker,” said Dr. Anthony J. Davis, the 13th president of Livingstone College. “Her rich experiences and powerful message will undoubtedly inspire our graduates to pursue their dreams and make positive impacts in their communities and beyond as they embark on their next chapter.”
In addition to Arline-Bradley’s speech, the college is planning to honor Army Lt. Col. Dr. Jim Duncan (retired) with an honorary doctorate in humane letters. Duncan, known for his efforts to raise awareness about human trafficking through his nonprofit organization, Project Light Rowan, is a respected figure in the Rowan County community and beyond.
This year’s winter commencement promises to be a memorable event filled with hope, inspiration and the spirit of achievement.
