SALISBURY — The Jubilee Community Choir will present “Joy To The World,” the theme of its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church, 306 N. Church St., Salisbury.
Dr. Derrick R. Anderson serves as the pastor, and Kay Wright Norman is the music director and pianist for the choir.
The choir will provide music that, as noted in a release, “sets the tone for the coming of the Christ-child” with the selections of “Night of Silence” and “While We Are Waiting, Come.” The congregation will join them in “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Angels We Have Heard On High.”
The Rev. Dr. Ethel B. Revis will present her narration that asks the question of “What is Christmas?” and ushers in each segment of the program. Other selections will include “No Room,” “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy,” “Mary Sat a Rockin’,” “Rise Up Shepherds” and “Noel.”
Rebecca Stinson will sing “One Night With a King,” accompanied by Phyllis Partee, and saxophonist Galvin Crisp will perform a jazzy arrangement of “Go Tell It On The Mountains.” Additional instrumentalists will be I.J. Heggins and De Marshall Bowers on congas, Alysha Kindred on flute and Stephen Williams on organ and piano.
The public is invited to this free concert; however, a free-will offering will be taken.
To conclude the program, the choir and congregation will join in singing “Joy To The World” and “Silent Night” by candlelight.
Following the concert, all are invited to the fellowship hall for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
