A Reidsville man is under arrest on two counts of first degree rape of a child following an investigation by Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to reports.

On Dec. 1, deputies received a complaint against Melvin Palomo-Zuniga for the sexual assault of a minor child. Palomo-Zuniga is reportedly related to a member of the child’s family.

The investigation supported arrest warrants for Palomo-Zuniga on two counts of first degree forcible rape and two counts of indecent liberties with children.

When deputies determined he lived in Reidsville, they asked for assistance from Reidsville police, who were able to aid in the arrest of Palomo-Zuniga without incident. He is being held at the Rowan County Detention Center under a $350,000 secured bond.
