Stolen vehicle pursuit ends in Spencer wreck

SPENCER — A man was apprehended and another hospitalized after a pursuit that began in Lexington ended with a wreck and foot chase in Spencer.

Kenyaa Rayquan Craven, 26, is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony flee to elude, operating a motor vehicle without a license, speeding and a stop sign violation for his role in the incident.

The chase came to a stop on North Salisbury Avenue in Spencer across from Food Lion around noon on Saturday when the fleeing vehicle crashed into a residential yard.

According to information from the Spencer Police Department and Lexington Police Department, the vehicle involved in the pursuit was reportedly stolen out of Tennessee. Lexington officers attempted to stop the vehicle which then fled into Rowan County.

Spencer PD, Lexington PD and Rowan County Sheriff’s officers, including a K9, collaborated to make the arrest.
