Rowan-Salisbury Schools makes two district leadership announcements

SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury School System (RSS) has announced the appointment of two leaders at the district level. Their experience and commitment to education will enhance the district’s mission to serve students, families and staff.

Director of Payroll Victoria Morris

Morris has been promoted to director of payroll in the RSS Finance department. Since joining RSS in 2021, Morris has served as lead payroll coordinator, demonstrating exceptional knowledge of the district’s payroll system, policies and practices.

Morris’ expertise and leadership will ensure continued efficiency and reliability of payroll operations, supporting the district’s staff and overall mission.

“Ms. Morris’ attention to detail and comprehensive understanding of our systems make her the perfect choice to lead our payroll team,” said Dr. Kelly Withers, RSS superintendent. “We are fortunate to have her leadership and expertise in payroll management to ensure that our staff is supported with precision and care.”

Director of Science, Social Studies and Innovation Jason Rollins

Rollins joins the district as the director of science, social studies and innovation, a newly created position designed to enhance interdisciplinary learning and foster creativity. Rollins most recently worked as an instructional coach with Cabarrus County Schools but brings a wealth of experience from his previous tenure at RSS, where he served as a teacher and head football coach at South Rowan High School and as a teacher at East Rowan High School from 1999 to 2022.

RSS looks forward to the innovative ideas Rollins will bring to this position, particularly through his focus on collaboration and student-centered learning.

“Mr. Rollins’ expertise in instructional strategies and innovative mindset will drive new opportunities for students and staff,” said Withers. “We are excited to see his impact as he returns to RSS in this new role.”

Rowan-Salisbury Schools is excited about the talent and dedication these leaders bring to their respective areas of expertise. Their contributions will provide essential support in advancing the district’s goals and the success of all students.

The RSS Board of Education approved Morris and Rollins at the business meeting on Nov. 25. They were were formally welcomed at the Dec. 9 meeting.
