High school basketball: Robinson sweeps at West Rowan; Wonder girls win

MOUNT ULLA — Robinson beat West Rowan’s boys basketball team 78-39 on Friday for a South Piedmont Conference victory.
The Bulldogs built a 43-20 halftime lead and cruised from there.
Robinson (6-2, 3-0) is tabbed by many as the favorite in the SPC. West (1-5, 1-3) is struggling, and has been held to under 50 points four times in the early going.
“Terrible,” West coach Dadrian Cuthbertson said. “Just can’t score right now.”
Israel Ford led the Falcons with 10 points. Brant Graham and Josiah Young scored nine each.

The Bulldogs are 5-3 and 3-0 in the SPC.
Jamelia Allen scored 11 points for the Falcons (0-6, 0-4). Sydney Smith and Justice Willis scored two each.
“Another loss, but hopefully it was also an opportunity to learn something,” West coach Ashley Poole said.

KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown’s girls pounded Hopewell 56-36 in a non-conference game on Friday.
London Gray poured in 32 points for the Wonders in a stunning performance. The sophomore made three 3-pointers in the third quarter, as the Wonders pulled away.
Alana Campbell scored 11, and freshman Alauna Massey added 10 for the Wonders (4-5).
Molly Howe led the Titans (1-6) with 11 points.
