College volleyball

Troy’s Tori Hester was named Honorable Mention All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Catawba had four Academic All-District players — Kary Hales (Carson), Lauren Bodell, Kelcie Love (West Rowan) and Riley Hill (East Rowan).

High school volleyball

Carson’s Caroline Snow announced she’ll continue her volleyball career and education at Forsyth Tech.

High school basketball

Dates for the Dale’s Sporting Goods Sam Moir Christmas Classic at Catawba College are Dec. 26-28.

Central Davidson and Mount Pleasant are joining the six Rowan Schools.

Admission is $10 per day or $25 for a tournament pass.

 

High school baseball

Kyle Bridges has resigned after two seasons as Carson’s head coach.

Bridges’ teams had records of 13-12 and 16-12. His teams won 18 South Piedmont Conference games in two seasons.

Both teams lost in the second round of the state playoffs.

Carson will name an interim coach for the 2025 season after the Christmas break.

High school wrestling

The Rowan County Wrestling Championships (boys and girls) will be held Friday at Carson. Action on three mats starts at 4 p.m.

High school tennis

Salisbury senior Lucy Barr was named to the All-State team.

High school indoor track

Salisbury runners are turning in some outstanding times.

Sam Fatovic ran a 2:48 1000 meters. Jay’lin Johnson ran a 35.46 300 meters.  Finnegan Avery ran the 3200 in 11:19.

 

 

High school football

Salisbury kicker/punter Hank Webb received an offer from UVA Wise. He has several South Atlantic Conference offers.

North Rowan lineman KaMahri Feamster was offered by Fayetteville State. He earlier was offered by Wingate.

West Rowan receiver/running back Evan Kennedy was offered by Chowan.
