College women’s basketball: Bowie State beats LC, stays unbeaten in CIAA

SALISBURY — Destiny Ryles scored 30 points as Bowie State’s women’s basketball team beat the cold-shooting Livingstone Blue Bears 71-61 on Thursday.
Livingstone (3-9, 1-2) made it a competitive game at New Trent Gym by out-rebounding the visitors, but Livingstone shot 26 percent and made 33 turnovers. That’s a tough combination to overcome.
Bowie State was able to win with 29.2-percent shooting. Neither team did much damage from the 3-point line.
Bowie State (10-2, 4-0) had 24 steals to account for most of those Livingstone turnovers.
Bowie State head coach Shadae Swan got career victory No. 150.
Morgan Kelson had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Blue Bears. Thalia Carter scored 14. Boston Bates had 11 points. Bria Griffith had eight points and 11 rebounds.
