SPENCER — High-flyer Dyzarious Carpenter returned to the lineup and scored a career-high 31 points as North Rowan pounded East Davidson 87-42 in Central Carolina Conference action.
Carpenter made two 3-pointers in the first quarter to get the Cavaliers (3-1, 3-0) rolling. North led 23-10 after a quarter.
Carter Williams had an explosive, nine-point second quarter as North built a 47-23 halftime lead.
North held East Davidson (1-9, 0-2) to two points in the fourth quarter.
Emari Russell scored 14 for the Cavaliers. Williams had 12.
Tegin Hedrick and Dayln Grady scored 16 each for the Golden Eagles.

DENTON — Well, South Davidson’s boys basketball team can say that it led Salisbury for a while.
The Wildcats led 1-0 after two minutes on Friday, but a dunk by Blake Smith got the Hornets on the board and triggered a 22-0 run.
It was 22-1 before South Davidson finally added another free throw, and Salisbury rolled to a breezy night in a 100-30 Central Carolina Conference romp.
Myles Smith had dunks for 12-1, 14-1 and 18-1, as the Hornets got a pile of transition points off their defense.
The Hornets (6-3, 3-0) led 51-18 at halftime, achieved a running clock with a 40-point lead very early in the second half and pummeled the Wildcats (0-10, 0-3) with a 35-point third quarter.
Torian Brown’s scoop with about 1:30 left gave the Hornets the century mark.
Myles Smith scored a season-high 27 points, Braylon Taylor scored 20, and Tre Davis had a career-high 18.
