According to information from the sheriff’s public information officer, Chadrick Dekeith Robinson, 38, of Woodleaf, is in custody and facing murder charges for the killing of 45-year-old Elliott Rudolph Wilds.
Robinson was reportedly arrested on Monday at a motel in Statesville with the assistance of the Statesville Police Department.

“We would like to thank the Statesville Police Departments SRT team for their assistance,” the release also said.
On Saturday, December 21, at approximately 2:38 p.m., deputies from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 137 Hardy Lane after receiving calls of shots being fired. On arrival, officers found Wilds suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
A medical helicopter was called to airlift Wilds from the established landing zone of the Woodleaf Fire Department, but it unfortunately became unnecessary.
“Our condolences go out to the Wilds family,” said Captain Mark McDaniel of the RCSO said at the time.
