SALISBURY — The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Marketing and Communications team has once again achieved national recognition by winning six awards in the 39th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, the largest and oldest educational advertising awards competition in the country. Competing against over 2,000 entries from more than 1,000 colleges, universities, and secondary schools from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries, Rowan-Cabarrus proudly earned awards in every category in which they submitted work.

The college’s marketing and communications team, led by Chief Officer of Governance, Advancement & Community Relations Sarah Devlin, and the staff members who produced the award-winning work were Director of Marketing and Communications Aaron Tallman, Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications Carter Wingfield and Senior Graphic Designer Allison Robinson. Their innovative and impactful work continues to elevate the college’s brand and outreach.

“We are incredibly proud of our marketing and communications team for their creativity, dedication and excellence,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. “Their efforts showcase the college’s strengths and engage and inspire our community. It is gratifying to see their hard work recognized on a national level.”

Rowan-Cabarrus captured four gold awards this year. The awards were for a video produced in collaboration with Market Street Studios to promote the Rowan-Cabarrus Foundation’s scholarships for students, billboards for the “Picture Your Future Here” marketing campaign, the reimagined “This Week” weekly internal email digest and employee portal landing page, and the new “Start Today” landing page for new and prospective students.

In addition, the college won two silver awards. These were for the 2022 Annual Report, “A Year Forward,” and the “I Belong” video created for the Guide to Belonging Conference, which featured members of the college’s cabinet.

“Our forward-thinking, creative marketing and communications team is passionate about presenting Rowan-Cabarrus as a first-choice institution,” said Sarah Devlin, chief officer of governance, advancement and community relations. “We understand the importance of our role in connecting potential students with the college and are committed to building and enhancing our brand. This recognition affirms the impactful work we do every day.”

The Educational Advertising Awards are judged by a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, and marketing and advertising professionals. Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s consistent success in this competition highlights the exceptional talent and commitment of its marketing and communications team.
