SALISBURY — Bryson Cowan, who started a long high school journey at West Rowan, has committed to Winston-Salem State.
Cowan, who is 6-foot-10, got into a few games for West as a freshman in the 2020-21 COVID season.
In 2021-22, as a sophomore, he had five double-figure games for West and scored 127 points. His high game was 14 points against Mooresville.
He transferred to Moravian Prep in Hudson after that and also reclassified, so he was still a sophomore for the 2022-23 season.
His basketball travels since his days at West have included Northside Christian, United Faith Christian and the 1 of 1 Academy.
Cowan isn’t too thin or too thick. He has long arms, moves well and scouts say he has a high ceiling.
Winston-Salem State offered him back in October. He committed in December.
His academic interests are science and math.
