On Sunday at 9:11 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory in effect until Monday at 7 a.m. The advisory is for Iredell, Davie, Catawba and Rowan counties.

The NWS adds to expect, “Freezing rain. Additional ice accumulations around a light glaze.”

“Icing may create slippery conditions on roads, bridges and sidewalks. The hazardous conditions could impact the early Monday morning commute,” describes the NWS. “Slow down and use caution while traveling.”

If you become stranded, stay composed. Notify someone about your situation and location. Avoid attempting to walk to safety. Attach a cloth to your car’s antenna or mirror to signal that you require assistance. Make your vehicle more visible by using the dome light and flashers.

Be aware of snow plows:

Keep an eye out for snow plows and allow them ample room to pass. Only overtake a plow when you have a clear view of the road ahead.
