A Cleveland man is facing sexual exploitation of a minor charges after an investigation prompted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding child pornography.
Shawn Phillip Pulver, 37, of Pleasant Creek Drive in Cleveland, is charged with 10 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor for his alleged role stemming from the investigation.
In a press release from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Darren Campbell said that his office received a report from the national agency on Tuesday that involved an Iredell County resident suspected of being in possession of child pornography. The case was assigned to a detective with the special victims unit for further investigation.
Campbell indicated that through the investigation, the detective identified Pulver as a suspect.
“It was determined that the suspected child pornography was associated with a social media account on the platform Kik,” the release said. “(The detective) executed search warrants for Pulver’s social media account, which confirmed the presence of multiple media files containing child sexual abuse material.”
Based on the evidence gathered, the ICSO obtained arrest warrants for Pulver and took him into custody on Dec. 27. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and issued a $350,000 secured bond.
This investigation reportedly remains ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
