High school girls wrestling: Falcons win 20-team tournament

WINSTON-SALEM — West Rowan’s girls wrestling team won the team championship of the RJR Invitational on Saturday.
The Falcons scored 144.5 points to lead a field of 20 teams. Next were R.J. Reynolds (111.5) and West Davidson (108.5).
East Rowan (61) placed ninth. Salisbury (30) was 12th.
West champions were Hadley Perry (100 pounds), Olyvia Brown (107), Waylon Collins (126) and Nevaeh McCullough (138).
Perry and Brown won by pin in the finals. Collins won a 15-0 tech fall for the championship, while McCullough was declared the winner in her final by medical forfeit.
East’s Leah Edwards (114) and Jasmyne Brown (120) won championships.
Edwards won a 17-2 tech fall in her final. Brown decisioned Salisbury’s Dashia Canada 1-0 in the final.
West’s Margaret Leach (235) placed third. Katie O’Brien (120) was fourth.
