Tuesday games …

SALISBURY — Salisbury put five men in double figures and routed Lexington for a Central Carolina Conference win.

Braylon Taylor scored 17 to lead a 75-42 pummeling of the Yellow Jackets, who came into the game undefeated in the CCC.

Myles Smith’s 13 points included multiple dunks. Tre Davis, Macari House and Hank Webb added 10 points apiece.

“Liked the balance,” Salisbury coach Albert Perkins said. “A lot of guys contributed.”

Lexington (5-7, 3-1) stayed with the Hornets for a while. It was 9-all when Taylor scored seven straight Salisbury points to give the home team a 16-11 lead.

Webb made a 3-pointer to open the second-quarter scoring and Davis had a flurry before halftime. Salisbury held Lexington to five points in the quarter and led 31-16 at the break.

The Hornets maintained a safe lead in the third quarter, and poured it on the Yellow Jackets with a 24-point fourth quarter, while Lexington was scoring nine.

Blake Smith and Kieal Matthews did some shot-blocking for the Hornets (11-3, 5-0).

CONCORD — Concord withstood a strong effort by Drew Neve and beat Carson 73-61 in South Piedmont Conference action at Rimer Gym.

Neve had 20 points and 14 rebounds and took two charges, but the Spiders (10-4, 5-1) made as many 3-pointers as the Cougars and got a lot more second-chance points.

Concord led almost all the way. It was 6-all in the early going after Jonah Drye and Jacob Mills made 3s for the Cougars (9-5, 3-3), but Concord had an 8-0 run to take charge at 14-6. Carson never caught up.

Neve got his first bucket at the end of the first quarter, but Carson was down nine mostly because the Spiders had four 3s in the books.

Concord stretched its lead to 41-27 at the half.

Concord threatened to blow the Cougars out early in the third quarter, surging ahead by 18 points at 47-29, but that was as bad as it got for the Cougars.

Carson put together a 13-0 run that included two 3-pointers by Drye to get back to 47-42. Drye banged the second 3 from the corner in transition — Neve made the pass — and the Spiders needed a timeout.

Neve scored nine in the third quarter, but Concord stabilized, got a big 3-ball after the lead was down to five and led 56-49 going to the fourth quarter.

Concord was able to maintain at least a six-point lead throughout the final quarter. Carson’s Xavier Phillips made it a 63-57 game when he got to the rim with 5:15 left. The Cougars had plenty of chances to get closer than that, but just didn’t have a good shooting night.

Drye made four 3-pointers and scored 16. Mills made three 3s, all in the first half, and scored 13. CP Perry had seven points and five assists.
