Update: Brace for snow and black ice in central North Carolina until Sunday morning

An updated report from the National Weather Service was issued on Saturday at 2:17 p.m. for snow and black ice until Sunday at 10:15 a.m. The alert is for Person, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Davidson and Randolph counties.
“Temperatures today did allow for some melting of the snow and ice. The snow and ice that did melt created some runoff that will freeze quickly freeze this evening. Otherwise, the lingering snow and ice will become very slick and solidify. The refreezing will occur quickly as temperatures fall below 32 and into the 20s between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Be extra cautious especially when walking or driving on sidewalks, parking lots, bridges and overpasses tonight through Sunday morning,” according to the NWS.
